10. Red Hood and the Outlaws
The first book in the new 52 to make me sob a little. It’s got that amazing range of emotion to make you laugh one minute and want to cry the next. The characters are all a bit damaged and in need of hugs and ice cream. And as unlikely a group as this seemed when it was first announced; it has becoming a really beautiful friendship.
I adore the way Roy still calls Starfire “Princess Koriand’r” sometimes. I love that they aren’t exactly a team. I love how much Roy has invested in the three of them being there for each other. I like how you sometimes can’t quite tell if Kori is being completely oblivious or making a pointed dig at the guys. I love that Jason is still a big ball of rage and issues but has also been allowed growth and friends and independence.
I pretty much just love this entire book.
I’m never entirely sure what’s coming next for them. They seem equally prepared to slaughter an army of assassins or sit down for an in depth group therapy session. I’m really looking forward to seeing some of how Kori & Jason came together in the next issue.
One of my favorite series of the relaunched DC universe is “Red Hood and the Outlaws”. Humor and action mixed with some really sweet, sad and messed up characters that are in desperate need of a hug. In the space of one issue I went from laughter to tears. Definitely an underrated gem.
And from the sound of this solicit, this issue is going to be one I’m really curious about. I’ve been wanting their backstory and I look forward to finally getting it.

How did Jason Todd and Princess Koriand’r of Tamaran meet – and what has bonded them together in a way that neither could have imagined? At long last the story can be told! It’s a scorcher!
